Ford's Pond Play Area

Client: City of Sutherlin
Location: Sutherlin, Oregon

Situated with expansive views of Ford's Pond in western Oregon, this new play area will offer inclusive, and nature play for all ages and abilities and has become a major attraction in the wider region. Ford's pond itself with its small islands and beaver ford provided inspiration for the design of the play pond which also features and island and a play beaver ford, as well as a fishing pier, boat and stream inlet. The playpond stimulates imaginary play while the center of the play area provides exciting movement play. A small lawn has become popular for picknicks and is the weekly gathering area for the local Qi gong class. Because the area faces west, Landcurrent paid a lot of attention to placement of shade trees.
